The right tools for the job

The backbone of everything we do at LEAF is focused on the principles and practices of Integrated Farm Management – a whole farm approach that delivers sustainable farming. Providing farmers with the skills and know how to adopt more integrated management practices is a key priority. Over the next few months, we are running a series of technical events, for farmers and advisers, focusing on specific aspects of IFM. Such practical, hands-on events, combined with paper based guidance in the form of our two technical guidebooks Simply Sustainable Soils and Simply Sustainable Water, used in conjunction with the self-assessment LEAF Audit, will all work together to help ensure farmers are working towards more robust management practices, capable of tackling the on going challenges of climate change.

‘Simply Sustainable Water’ Launched

Simply Sustainable Water is a new booklet that has been produced to help farmers develop an effective on-farm management strategy for efficient water use and to improve the farm’s contribution to protecting water in the environment. It allows you to get the best from this valuable resource, to improve awareness of the importance of water and track changes in water use and quality over time.

Simply Sustainable Water

It has been produced in association with Asda and Molson Coors Brewing Company, and follows the Simply Sustainable Soils booklet released in 2011.

Simply Sustainable Water features six simple steps for managing water quality and use on your land. It is free to download and is available on LEAF’s website here.

If you’re using Simply Sustainable Water, please get in touch and let us know how you are doing and how you found using the booklet – if you’re on twitter, use #sustainableH2O to get involved in the discussion.
