When enhancing biodiversity is on the agenda, agriculture is requested on a regular basis to take productive land out of production – and devote this area to biodiversity. There are, however, considerable areas which are neither used for agriculture, nor for industry, nor for settlements. These areas are “Eh da” – “land in hand” – and could be dedicated to maintaining and enhancing biodiversity. Not only with regard to the efficiency of resource use, this is a very promising approach.
